NFL Partners With Hunter's Hope

Press Release 12/19/07

National Football League Partners with the

Hunter’s Hope Foundation for National Awareness

of Universal Newborn Screening

The Hunter’s Hope Foundation is moving forward with a National Awareness Campaign beginning with support from the National Football League, by means of a commercial that will air on national television beginning December 20, 2007. The Public Service Announcement (PSA) features NFL Pro Hall of Fame and former Buffalo Bills Quarterback, Jim Kelly, with an 11-year old boy from Grand Island, N.Y., Matthew Chorey, who is affected by Glutaric Academia (GA1).  Matthew represents a child whose disabling disease could have been prevented had he been screened at birth.  The concluding message in the PSA  is Jim Kelly urging the viewers/listeners to contact their legislatures to support Newborn Screening.
