BUFFALO, NY – Former Buffalo Bills quarterback and Pro Football Hall of Famer Jim Kelly and his wife, Jill, announce that Duane Paddock of Paddock Chevrolet and his wife, Pamela, are honorary chairmen of the sixth annual Candlelight Ball to benefit the Hunter’s Hope Foundation on Friday, November 18, 2005 at the Adam’s Mark Hotel.
Montgomery Gentry, the Country Music Award-winning Southern country rockers, will perform at the black-tie event. Among their hits are “Lonely and Gone,” “She Couldn’t Change Me,” and “My Town.”
Live, silent and Chinese auctions featuring a variety of sports memorabilia, entertainment, travel, holiday items, and gift baskets will begin the evening at 6 p.m. A Chef’s Extravaganza, serving food and wine from more than 40 Western New York restaurants and wineries, takes place 7 – 10:30 p.m.
“Jill and I and all the Hunter’s Hope volunteers welcome Duane and Pamela Paddock and thank them for their leadership in making this year’s Candlelight Ball a success,” Jim Kelly said. “We dedicate this event to the memory of our beloved son, Hunter. Our pledge is to continue to raise funds for neurological disease-related research. Please help us to make a difference in children’s lives by participating in this great, fun evening.”
Krista Tooze is coordinator of the Ball, which is open to the public. For tickets, table reservations and sponsor packages, call (716) 667-1200, 1-800-894-HOPE or visit huntershope.org.
The Kellys established the Hunter’s Hope Foundation in 1997 after their infant son, Hunter, was diagnosed with Krabbe Leukodystrophy, a fatal, degenerative nervous system disease. Hunter died on August 5, 2005 at age eight. The Foundation is the Kellys’ lifelong commitment to raise awareness, fund research to identify new treatments, therapies and a cure for Krabbe and other leukodystrophies, and advocate for universal newborn screening. To date, Hunter’s Hope has awarded more than $3.8 million to dedicated medical researchers around the world.
