05/23/03 - 23rd ANNUAL MOTORCYCLE FUN RUN TO BENEFIT HUNTER'S HOPE
Pro Football Hall of Famer, Jim Kelly, to lead riders in Run
BUFFALO, NY - On Sunday, June 1st, up to 2000 motorcyclists are expected to gather to raise funds for the Hunter's Hope Foundation at the 23rd Annual Motorcycle Fun Run.
Riders, alongside Jim Kelly and other sports celebrities, will take part in a scenic motorcycle tour throughout Western New York with checkpoints at Akron and Chestnut Ridge Parks.
Participants will then gather at The Erie County Fairgrounds in Hamburg for an afternoon of entertainment.
Registration for riders is 10am - noon at the Transitown Plaza in Clarence (on the corner of Transit and Main). Participants are asked to contribute $10 per driver or $15 for driver and a passenger to help aid efforts in finding a cure for Krabbe Disease and other leukodystrophies.
At 4pm riders will have the opportunity to take part in a spectacular "Parade of Hope" through the township of Hamburg. Upon returning, drawings will take place for thousands of dollars in prizes donated by Don George's Sports Center, and The West-Herr Automotive Group and music by the band, Tripi and Sensational Sound. Other sponsors include: Dunlop Tires, M&T Bank, WKBW TV Channel 7, 97 Rock, 103.3 The Edge, WHTT 104.1, Nova Casualty Insurance, and West-Herr Automotive Group.
Hunter's Hope was established in 1997 by Jim and Jill Kelly after their infant son, Hunter was diagnosed with Krabbe Disease. The Hunter's Hope Foundation is the Kelly's life long commitment to increase public awareness of Krabbe Disease and other leukodystrophies as well as to increase the likelihood of early detection and treatment. The ultimate goal is to raise money to fund research efforts to identify new treatments, therapies and a cure. To date, Hunter's Hope has awarded approximately $3.5 million to leukodystrophy and other neurological disease related research.
