Hi! I am “Newborn Hunter”. I’m a personalized Boyds Bear created for the Hunter's Hope Foundation, an organization working hard to make sure that all Newborn babies are screened for all detectable diseases at birth. This is known as Universal Newborn Screening. The Hunter's Hope Foundation was established in 1997 by Pro Football Hall of Famer, and former Buffalo Bills Quarterback, Jim Kelly and his wife, Jill, in honor of their son, Hunter, who suffers from the fatal disease, Infantile Krabbe Leukodystrophy. While advocating for Universal Newborn Screening, Hunter’s Hope also seeks to find a cure for Krabbe and other Leukodystrophies, as well as heighten the awareness of these devastating genetic diseases. I was named “Newborn Hunter” because I represent life for all Newborn babies. We Newborns are dependent on our moms and dads. We know that they do not want any harm to come to us. They want us to be tested for all possible diseases at birth, so they know how best to care for us.
