What some of our Hunter’s Heroes are saying…
The Peace Love and Trevor Foundation is a Hunter Hero because we know that the team behind Hunter’s Hope will never give up fighting for these children with Krabbe disease and their families. Hunter and Trevor are looking down smiling knowing the amazing work Hunter Hope does every day. ~Steve A
It is our joy to give monthly to Hunter’s Hope because they have loved, encouraged, and prayed for our family for the past fourteen years that our daughter Karis has survived early infantile onset Krabbe. They have connected us with resources, with other families, and with HOPE which has helped our family thrive through this awful disease. We give monthly because it is our desire that other families have the same privilege of being blessed by Hunter’s Hope in the same ways we have been. ~ Katie G.
I love Hunter’s Hope. It’s been my favorite charity ever since I can remember… Part of the reason I became a Hunter’s Hero was to honor my Grandma and Grandpa. Several years ago, at Hunter’s Day of Hope and Prayer for Children, I wanted to buy a hoodie to support Hunter’s Hope. In order to do that, you had to pledge to become a Hunter’s Hero and I knew I wanted to do it for my Grandma. I will continue to support this cause that’s near and dear to my heart with every breath God gives me because I know Hunter fought with everyone he was given to make this world a better place. ~ Meghan G.
Hunter’s Hope does an amazing job of helping to provide for the immediate, physical needs of Leukodystrophy families as well as planning for future families. But most importantly, they provide for a special needs family’s greatest need; encouragement in Christ. Truly living out James 2:16. We are privileged to be a part of that. ~ Bobbi B.
I have been good friends with the Kelly family for over 35 years. I was present at Hunter’s first birthday party. He wasn’t supposed to have many more. I was very sad when we learned about his disease but his toughness, with the help of our Lord, gave him 8 years. Because of Hunter, I learned about the disease and I am happy to be able to donate regularly. ~ Kevin O.
When I first heard that my sweet granddaughter Evelyn had Krabbe I had no idea what it was, what it would do to her, or how it would emotionally affect our families. I began the ‘Krabbe journey’ totally helpless, emotionally and mentally, until Jim, Jill, and Hunter’s Hope reached into our life with hope. The reason why donations, research, and raising awareness for Krabbe is so important is simple…kids shouldn’t have to deal with Krabbe. The money raised for research and raising awareness for Krabbe can help families, one day, not to have their child’s life robbed from them. Children’s lives matter, all children, including, and especially, Krabbe Kids. Thank you Jim, Jill, and Hunter’s Hope for all you do. Hunter’s Hope can always count on the Carneys. Can they count on you? ~ Bill C.
My grandson CJ was exhibiting episodes of irritability and sleeplessness as an infant. Unfortunately, the diagnosis was long in coming due to the rarity of Krabbe Disease. Many specialists were unable to connect the symptoms he displayed until finally it was determined to be one of the Leukodystrophies. At that time, there was neither a cure, or solution on the horizon, nor a drug to answer the problem. There were no answers and we felt very alone and helpless. When Hunter was born to Jill and Jim, he was diagnosed with the same disease and the Kelly family suffered the same devastation, fear, and frustrations. It followed that they became aware of CJ and immediately made contact with CJ’s parents. Their love, friendship, and outreach to us will never be forgotten. The Kelly’s did not give up. They organized and established Hunter’s Hope, a tribute to Hunter. Their efforts have given hope and optimism to us and the many families suffering with sick children. I decided after CJ and Hunter ended their valiant fights, to thank and continue to support the Kelly’s and the Hunter’s Hope Foundation for their selfless devotion to my family and to help continue the fight and the goal to find an answer. On behalf of my family, may God bless them for all that they continue to do for so many! ~ Chuck C.
I have 3 daughters who are now 25, 23 and 20. Way back when my wife Michele and I decided to become Hunter’s Heroes it was to show how grateful we were that God blessed us with 3 healthy, happy, and beautiful little girls. The work that Jim and Jill have done with infant newborn screening is giving so many families a chance to experience the joy and love of being parents. We wanted to share our happiness through our donations. ~ Kenneth F.
